HVAC Sensor Range for Australian BMS Projects

An HVAC sensor is the field-level transducer that converts a physical air or water property - temperature, humidity, CO2, particulate or pressure - into a signal the field controller can read and act on. The ABB Cylon CLS series outputs natively over 0-10 V, 4-20 mA or RS485 Modbus, with every duct, outdoor and pressure variant rated to IP65 for plant-room and intake environments. That output flexibility is what lets one HVAC sensor family serve both legacy analogue panels and modern Master-Slave/Token-Passing (MS/TP) networks without a separate interface.

Temperature Sensor for HVAC Duct & Pipe Lines

A temperature sensor for HVAC plant measures air or water temperature at a specific point - in a duct, an immersion pocket, or clamped to a pipe surface - and presents it as a resistance or transmitted signal. Whether the HVAC sensor is active or passive governs cabling: a two-wire RTD (resistance temperature detector) carries lead-resistance error of roughly 0.1 degC per 10 m on 1.25 mm2 cable, so long home runs favour an active 4-20 mA HVAC temperature sensor over a raw passive element. Pair it with an HVAC humidity sensor where RH control is required.

Duct Temperature & Humidity: CLS-DTH-3V100 Series

The CLS-DTH-3V100 / -3A100 / -3V200 / -3A200 are active duct mounted temperature and humidity sensors built on a PT1000 temperature element with a 35-186 mm insertion probe, rated IP65. The 3V suffix gives a 0-10 V output and 3A gives 4-20 mA; the 100 accuracy class is verified at +/-3% RH, with the 200 class as the enhanced-accuracy option. As a combined duct temperature and humidity sensor, each HVAC sensor halves your AHU penetrations versus separate probes. This duct humidity sensor reads supply or return air directly, and as an HVAC humidity sensor it feeds zone RH back to the controller for economiser and reheat logic.

Passive Duct Temperature Sensor: CLS-DT-22 Range

The CLS-DT-11 / -12 / -13 / -21 / -22 / -23 are passive duct temperature sensor elements for controllers that prefer a raw resistance input. The verified reference HVAC sensor, CLS-DT-22, uses an NTC10K-II element on a 125 mm probe, rated IP65. Element type and probe length vary across the six order codes, so confirm the resistance curve of the duct temperature sensor against the specific code at quotation. When you specify a temperature sensor for HVAC duct duty, match that element to your controller library to avoid a fixed measurement offset.

Immersion & Pipe-Contact Probes: AKF & VFG54

For water-side measurement, the range carries three passive insertion probes - the 135 mm AKF1013507 (1S9SW102), 192 mm AKF1019207 (1S9SW104) and 62 mm AKF106207 (1S9SW108) - all IP65 RTD elements for chilled and heating water lines via a thermowell, so the HVAC sensor withdraws without draining the system. This makes the AKF a practical temperature sensor for water tank, buffer-vessel and flow/return duty. The VFG54 (1S9SW138) is a spring-loaded brass contact unit - a water pipe temperature sensor that clamps to the pipe surface for fast response where an immersion pocket isn't available.

Duct CO2, PM2.5 & Pressure HVAC Sensor Lines

Indoor air quality and airflow on an AHU are governed by three measurands beyond temperature: CO2 for demand-controlled ventilation (DCV), particulate for filtration control, and differential pressure for fan and filter status. Each ABB Cylon variant below is IP65 and selectable between analogue and RS485 Modbus so it drops onto either a hardwired input or a Modbus trunk.

Duct CO2 Sensor Models: CLS-DCO2-0M0 & 0VA0

The CLS-DCO2-0M0 is a duct CO2 sensor with an RS485 Modbus output, a verified 400-2000 ppm span and +/-50 ppm accuracy, rated IP65. The CLS-DCO2-0VA0 is the same duct CO2 sensor with simultaneous 0-10 V and 4-20 mA analogue outputs for controllers without a Modbus port. Each HVAC sensor monitors CO2 in the return airstream to drive outside-air dampers under a DCV strategy.

Duct PM2.5 Transmitters: CLS-DPM-VAM0

The CLS-DPM-VA0 and CLS-DPM-VAM0 are duct PM2.5 particulate transmitters reading 0-500 ug/m3, rated IP65 - not pressure devices. The VA0 carries 0-10 V plus 4-20 mA outputs; the CLS-DPM-VAM0 adds RS485 Modbus for direct logging into the building management software [Link this to BMS Software & Licences Sub-Category Page].

Air Pressure Differential: CLS-AP-A50

The CLS-AP-A50 and CLS-AP-V50 are the range's HVAC pressure transmitter for duct and filter differential measurement, with field-selectable spans of 0-2500 / 5000 / 10000 Pa, rated IP65. The CLS-AP-A50 outputs 4-20 mA and the CLS-AP-V50 outputs 0-10 V. Specify this HVAC sensor for fan-status proving, filter-blockage alarms and room-pressurisation control.
